Er Dont look now... but i think we've been spotted!!

Peas

The pea erection!

new shoots

Once we had planted the friut bushes, it looked less like a patch of mud,Gooseberry bush, with Raspberries in the background, the blueberry bush is in the teepee of sticks!

The first things to grow where the radishes, i think they were up in about 2-3 wks, followed closely by the rocket.Radishes on the left and Garlic on the right ( I just bought a bulb of garlic from the shop broke it into cloves and pushed them into the ground, garlic from China is supposed to be hardy and good to grow!)...You can just see the Rhubarb in the background....

It didnt take long for green shoots to start coming up every where.

sowing the seeds!

Hey
Well it all started back on a chilly february morning......I started a course on "how to grow your own veggies" at the allotments just down the road....after seeing the place I was desperate to get one, but with Tom in tow I didnt think i'd be able to manage, by the time 2 weeks had passed and I was there for the next installment of the course I was ready to hand over my cash for a 20x20 ft plot of land!

The day we got the plot, Liam the farmer dug us up a clump of rhubarb, cut it in half with his shovel and planted it in our plot.....i'm not too sure he has "green fingers" because out of everything we have planted, the rhubarb is doing the worst!!!!! Hopefully next year it will be better, we will have to cut it right back in the winter and cover it in manure. We have a huge pile of well rotted cow manure at the side of the plot...... its the best stuff to grow veggies, especially peas, beans, potatoes and fruit bushes........ carrots dont grow well in manure at all.

I have divided the plot into 5 different beds.
I have a permanent bed with Rhubarb, Raspberries, Blueberries, Gooseberries, Horseradish, Fennel, rosemary, parsley.... this is a strip of about 2 ft running the length of the plot.
The rest is simple divided into 4 seperate plots with a path criss crossing so we dont walk over our stuff!
Bed 1 potatoes and red onions. (bottom right hand corner of photo)
Bed 2 Peas and Broad beans. (left side of photo)
Bed 3 Brocolli, radish, rocket, lettuce. (far side)
Bed 4 Turnips, beetroot, radish, celery and pumpkin! (where im bending over!)
